Mixing log and timberframe is a nice way to have the best of both worlds. These homeowners were searching for something different. Intrigued by the historical Maryland structures nearby, they wanted a blend of traditional log with chinking, timber frame and conventional construction.

They sought a comfortable living environment with soaring ceilings, without compromising energy efficiency. It would be a home to showcase their talents and entertain their family and friends. As general contractors, they knew what they wanted in a place to show.

The result is a wonderful mix of Bob Timberlake style logs, period stone and brick and authentic timber frame construction with mortise & tenon joinery. Eastern White Pine timbers were kiln dried, precut, hand hewn and ultimately installed by Hearthstone.

What started as a special home turned into a career move. Log & timber frame homes attract attention. Soon prospective customers came to visit and ask for something similar.
