In a log home the wall is the structure — logs stacked horizontally and notched at the corners. In a timber frame home the structure is a skeleton of posts and beams joined with joinery, and the walls are built outside of it so the timbers stay exposed inside.
Yes, but the final number depends on more than the house. Hearthstone's package covers structural, specialty, common, erection and sometimes dry-in, but you still add freight, crew travel, tax, site access, and the finish work you or your GC control. As a 2026 ballpark, most 2,000-square-foot Hearthstone homes run between $275 and $425 per heated square foot, all-in.
It starts with a conversation about your site, your budget, and how you want to live. Hearthstone turns that into hand-drawn concepts, then CAD drawings, then engineered shop documents. You approve each gate before we cut anything. Most homes take 8 to 14 weeks from first sketch to shop-ready drawings, depending on complexity.
Mountain Timber Structures is the labor arm of Hearthstone, Inc. Same address, same people, same shop culture — but a separate construction entity that performs the heavy timber and log raising work for Hearthstone projects.
Hearthstone's guarantee has been in effect since March 27, 1988 and is unmatched by anyone in the world. It has two parts: a money-back guarantee on your new home, and a structural guarantee for as long as you own it.
